TRIVIA

- 5'7" and lesbian.

- April 16th

- So, so very sweet and loving :’3 Has a very soft and generous heart.  Compassionate, soft-spoken, sensitive to the emotions of the people around her, thoughtful, and quietly intelligent.  Extremely patient with others, and the type of person to nurse an injured baby bird back to health or try to help a caterpillar that’s fallen off of its leaf.

- Curious!  She likes asking questions, and pays attention when other people are talking.  She’s almost always listening to the speaker, even if the rest of the group isn’t, and if someone is getting talked over and decides to abandon their point, she’s often the one to keep her focus and say, “wait, what were you saying?”  She’s the sort of person who is rarely consciously trying to be nice–she just IS nice.  She genuinely cares about what the people around her have to say and wants everyone to have the space to share if they want it; she feels a strong emotional response when witnessing someone being treated unfairly, and that response usually proceeds and even Supersedes a more value/principle-based belief that the way they’re being treated is “wrong.”  Unfortunately, she can be a bit of a doormat in an attempt to invite others to speak, and will let herself be talked over or roped into things sometimes T__T  Opal ALWAYS stands up for her if they see it.  Poppy is truly so, so grateful to them.

- Soft-spoken and shy, though she tries to hide her nerves and be friendly.  Has to gear up to leave the house.  She struggles badly with both social and generalized anxiety, and while it doesn’t normally paralyze her to the point of being Unable to speak (she can usually force herself to interact with others), she definitely Can be noticeably nervous and a bit awkward.  People tend like her–she still comes off as kindhearted and smart–but she’s embarrassed by how stuttery and mousy she can be around strangers.  She struggles with depression, and when things get bad, she spends a lot of time sleeping and listening to music in her bed.  Most of the time she’s timid, but a warm, gentle person.  In her head, though, there’s a gloomy, despondent, foggy feeling that she feels she can never seem to stay away from for long, which is ironic given how much of a light she is in the lives of her friends.

- One of the Least competitive people out there.  She doesn’t really play games to Win them, and doesn’t mind letting someone else win/get their way if she’s doing well at something that seems to be very important to them.  The experience of playing a game or doing a shared activity with someone she cares about is what’s fun for her.  :3  She doesn’t really experience strong feelings of envy, and is anything but a sore loser.  She feels genuinely Very happy for others when they do well; seeing other people experiencing intense joy makes her happy.  

- She has a MASSIVE flower special interest.  She also loves learning about butterflies and other pollinators!  She enjoys learning more about bugs in general from Harry!  :3 ()

- Has a huge interest in botany and gardening, as well as in political science, DIY culture, foraging, painting (the arts in general, really!) clothing, and learning about psychoactive drugs (psychedelics tend to interest her the Most, but drugs as a Whole fascinate her deeply).  She is a HUGE proponent for harm reduction and responsible drug use, though.  She absolutely will partake, but safety is Always her first priority when it comes to substance use, followed closely by Comfort -w- This is true both for herself And others; she makes an Excellent tripsitter!  :3

- A pretty big stoner -w- <3  She spends about two thirds of the summer back in Colorado visiting her father (she’s originally from there!), and works at a dispensary while she’s up there.  

- She’s an artist–mostly a painter, though she also does ceramic art (both sculpture and pottery), draws, and often customizes or makes her own clothing and jewelry!  She makes her own clays and paints, usually through a combination of foraging for raw materials and participating in online DIY trade rings (she’s been in a lot of the same circles for years now, and has a friendly relationship with most of the long-term users of the forums and servers she frequents) and then processing the materials herself once they arrive!  It’s a very meditative process for her–collecting and readying the materials she intends to work with is, to Poppy, the first “half” of her artistic process, and just as important to her as the actual process of arranging them into the finished piece is.  

- Her paintings often lean surrealist, and tend to feature lots of color and multimedia elements, though they’re usually either portraits or inspired by landscapes/the natural world.  She has several huge books of stickers that she LOVES using in her paintings and putting around her apartment and on her belongings, and she definitely has her favorite sources; she’s been buying Mostly from the same few artists for ages!  She always stays stocked up–you’ll never catch her running too low on stickers.

- She always carries a sketchbook with her, and usually keeps a pencil behind her ear!  She likes drawing while she’s out with friends to help her remember their moments together, and to help lock in the faces of new people she meets!  She loves expressiveness; she sketches Dusty, Opal, Clue, and Georgie a lot.  Harriet too… <3  -w-

- Spends a LOT of time outside!  She likes foraging for ingredients to make her own jams, jellies, preserves, spices, and teas!  She would NEVER eat anything she can’t be One Hundred Percent Certain she’s identified correctly, though, and doesn’t take any pointless risks.  She’s vegetarian, and has quite a knack for plant-based cooking.  :3  She also gardens!  Her setup is partially indoors (using a hydroponic gardening system) and partially outdoors, and she tends to grow a lot of flowers, tomatoes, cucumbers, herbs, chard, bok choy, green onion, arugula, and lettuce!  She’s super generous with whatever she produces, too; part of the reason she loves being able to grow her own food is because she finds sharing it so rewarding!  She donates to her local food pantry all the time–especially after a good canning session.

- Really likes casual gift-giving!  She makes a Lot of little projects, and that habit in combination with her generous nature means she ends up giving away a lot of tie-dyed shirts, beaded or woven charm bracelets, and cute refrigerator magnets to any friends who show interest!  It’s not at all uncommon for her to give people friendship bracelets as a sign of appreciation and affection after she’s come out of her shell a little and feels more comfortable with them.  If she feels particularly full of love for a friend of hers, she often makes them a little trinket to thank them for their presence in her life, if she thinks they’ll appreciate the gesture.  :3

- Likes road trips a lot :3 Especially to visit national parks and other interesting landscapes!

- She’s a furry!  She has a fursuit -w-  Her fursona is usually a deer, but her suit is a partial with bendable ears and an optional/alternate puppy tail, so she’s kind of Also a dog/deer hybrid :p  The suit also has removable antlers–sometimes she’s worn as an antlered doe, but not always!

- Grew up as a TOTAL hardcore kid!  Her dad was in a hardcore band from his teen years until his mid thirties, and her mom was a part of her local scene–her parents actually met at a show her father traveled to see, stayed in touch, and eventually got together -w-  Needless to say, Poppy grew up absolutely ingrained in punk culture, and it’s influenced the trajectory of her life Greatly.  She LOVES hardcore (though she gets a little scared to mosh if the pit is looking too crazy <3  Her dad lovingly gives her shit for it), and also listens to a Ton of screamo, metalcore, emo, and some hyperpop and grunge.

- Struggles with very, very bad gender dysphoria.  She doesn’t really talk about it all that much, but it definitely affects her self esteem.  She can be prone to over-scrutinizing her appearance and mannerisms.  For someone who is so thoughtful and sweet with other people, the degree to which she can be unfairly Harsh towards Herself is pretty heartbreaking.

- Her hair can be straightened or natural/curly (to varying degrees, depending on how she's styled it and how many times she's dyed it)!  Sometimes she gives it a break, sometimes it's fried to shit LOL

- Her closest friends in the world are Opal, Clue, and Florence.  She admires them so much, and she’s so proud of them.

- Best friends with Opal!

- Good friends with Clue, Florence, and Harriet!

- Friends with Dusty, Evening, Tabitha, Violet, Datura, Georgie, Gabe, Dante, and Diana!

- In love with Harriet  :3  She has the feeling (or maybe the hope -w- she tries not to read too far into things, but...) that it's mutual, but she Knows that Harry has a lot of nervousness and uncertainty surrounding navigating romance, and they're both sort of in a position where they're too timid about it and afraid to lose each other to say anything.  The level of intimacy in their friendship has kind of reached the point where it's harder and harder for Poppy to leave things unaddressed, (it's Very obvious, especially when they spend time together one-on-one, that they are both absolutely Full of yearning.  The tension is unbearable <3) but she wants to wait to say anything until it feels like the Right time.
