TRIVIA

- 6' and lesbian.

- January 13th

- Intelligent, observant, direct, driven, and secure in her sense of self.  Veil does not believe in settling for anything less than the best; she works diligently to keep her skills sharp and does countless hours of research and experimenting to make sure she is performing as well as she can when it comes to her career and other passions.  She wants to be able to take pride in everything she does and to be thoughtful enough with what she says that she can stand by her words even when others disagree.  She is not competitive at all, wanting other people to excel in their chosen exploits and being willing to give criticism and advice where it is needed to ensure that this happens.

- Sharp, witty, and generous with her friends.  She enjoys collaborative storytelling, swapping ideas and learning from her loved ones, and debating and analyzing past events as well as speculating on future ones.  She never tires of thinking and likes doing it alongside others, but she also likes relaxing, less intellectual encounters.  Higher energy people can put her off a little bit, but she's hard to upset to the point of actively disliking someone.  It's more common that people think she has an issue with them than it is that she actually does--she's just not the type to go out of her way to fake a bubbly and outgoing personality, and doesn't mince words when she isn't in the mood to talk.

- Considerate and attentive, but lacks a sweet and sunny demeanor, which can make her come off as overly critical, domineering, competitive, and egotistical when working with or educating her peers.  She has no desire to change who she is or how she communicates to seem more polite (especially because she thinks through the advice she gives very carefully and only interjects when she is certain she has something useful to say.  Her input is usually concise and helpful, but even when it isn't needed, it's well thought out), so she can be polarizing.  When people dislike her, it's usually because they misinterpret her intent or don't like the way she delivers her messages.  What is, to Veil, sharing interesting and useful information with people it may be relevant to is, to others, being intrusive, boastful, and arrogant.

- Struggles with OCD, has particularly intense feelings of stress and sometimes physical sickness when she is unable to reach her mind's arbitrary (but very rigid) standards/perceptions of what is Correct.  If she feels something must be done a certain way, but realizes that for whatever reason it cannot be done "properly" (or that she has to wait for something else to happen first in order for it to be done properly), she becomes restless and distressed, can suffer from nausea and headaches, and becomes prone to meltdowns.  In her mind, it's like she KNOWS better than this ("this" being whatever is upsetting her at the moment), and an inability to set things right will stick in her mind until she feels like it's been resolved.  This sensation of total helplessness is probably the single feeling she hates the most in the world.  She is typically very private about her struggles.

- A jeweler by trade; she has worked hard to build expertise in her field and is a talented user of metal manipulation magic.

- Interested in horror makeup and practical effects.  She makes masks and props in addition to jewelry, and her talent for her craft paired with her gift for illusion magic gives her the ability to create some truly striking and gnarly pieces.

- Fascinated by prosthetics, medical anomalies, surgical procedures, geology, (petrology, gemology, minerology, and paleontology) embalming and burial practices, and fossils.

Loves art.  Enjoys surrealism, dadaism, and psychological horror and existentialist media.

- Loves music more than anything else on the planet; has a pristinely organized and extremely expansive physical music collection that takes up an entire wall and a half of shelves.  She especially loves music that is heavy, oppressive in atmosphere, loud, experimental, and relentless from start to finish.  Anything thick with sound and dark, if an album is grueling to make it through, it's right up her alley.  She likes having to brace herself for the crushing weight or stabbing intensity of her favorite songs.  Loves slam, brutal death metal, technical death metal, and more.  Appreciates the classics and Also really enjoys metal that is Interesting/genre blending; songs with strong electronic, industrial, or noise influences, etc.

- Plays the cello, piano, harp, viola, guitar, and bass guitar.  She likes collecting and learning to play new instruments.

- Drives a Mazdaspeed3.

- Has had keyhole top surgery!  She's 3 years post-op and feels so, so much more calm and relaxed in her own skin.  She also took testosterone for a while in her early 20s and made the decision to stop after she felt satisfied with her changes.  She is very pleased and comfortable with the the decisions she has made for herself/the results of her medical transition.

- Doesn't like being touched... She has a hard time with physical and emotional intimacy.  While she's made a lot of progress and is pleased to be able to maintain steady, close, and even affectionate relationships with her best friends (they are a major grounding force in her life, and she feels entirely comfortable and calm with them), there are still times where she simply cannot force herself to embrace a family member, shake a stranger's hand in greeting, or avoid backing away when someone walks past her too closely.  She's normally quite comfortable with who she is, but her discomfort surrounding physical proximity with people outside of her friend group is humiliating to her, and it's become a sore spot and a recurring source of frustration in her everyday life.

- Dealing with a lot.  She's gradually untangling a ton of unresolved trauma, but she's quite averse to discussing things in detail.  It took her a long, long time to be able to open up about what happened with her closest friends, and even then, she still tends to avoid asking them for support unless she thinks it absolutely necessary.  Veil feels like being vulnerable turns her into someone else; someone less put together and secure in their identity than she usually is, and someone SHE is dissatisfied with.  Her problem is less about being perceived as weak and more about FEELING weak, and that feeling of fragility really strikes a nerve with her.  She wants to just leave the past in the past; she KNOWS who she is now, and she wants to just be that person without the distraction of her past coming back to haunt her over and over again.

- Enjoys shopping for and burning incense and candles, as well as brewing coffee and hot teas.  She doesn't drink alcohol, and is a strict pescetarian.

- Best friends with Datura (85c9affb5c938a7150a713ce1daa2060795c8c18), Monty, and Sylvie.

- Gets along well with Diana, Dutch, and Swish.

- Clue doesn't like her...

NOTES:

- Her tail is large, powerful, and long, with a thick base.  The "fin" is more delicate (and, comparatively, prone to tearing), and it points upward/is positioned vertically like a shark's tail fin, not horizontally, like a dolphin's.

- Her piercings can be played with a little; the bridge and labret piercing are non optional, and she always wears at least one pair of ear rings, but feel free to mix and match other facial piercings; eyebrow, septum, tongue, dimple, nostril, etc.

- Her horn jewelry can vary and is completely left up to artistic freedom.  It can be on one horn, both, or neither, but all her jewelry is silver and/or black--she doesn't like to wear gold.
