- 5'1" and lesbian.

- October 30th

- Dedicated, honest, focused, active, and inquisitive.  They are fascinated by how much there is to do in the world and revel in the feeling of using all of the senses at their disposal to explore as much as possible.  They seek out experience and mastery, and highly value the ability to participate in the world and connect with people who have their own interesting experiences, skills, and passions.

- Very sincere and self-assured.  He refuses to hide or change any part of who he is to appease others; authenticity is one of his strongest values, and he views his adherence to that not an act of moral superiority or revolution, but as something as inevitable as breathing.  It's just the way he is--it's his only option.

- Resolute and committed to her lifestyle.  Doesn’t let what others think get in the way of her doing what she feels is right for her; she’s willing to sacrifice time, energy, and access to conditional acceptance and support in order to revel in the security in her own identity and passions that she holds so dear.

- Independent, observant, and alert.  They’re not calm in a sleepy way, or alert in a jumpy way, but they’re comfortable, open, and pretty secure.  They are relaxed, hold their head up, and speak with certainty.  They feel a lot taller than they are; they have quite the presence and pursue what they want with confidence.

- Struggles a little bit with the concept of politeness, sometimes.  She is absolutely not a mean person, but can be read as sort of rude by people getting the wrong impression.  She's pretty direct, and the "dance" of conversation--the pleasantries and greetings--don't make sense or come naturally to her.  She regularly pushes past people in crowds or reaches across the table for a menu without saying "excuse me," "pardon my reach," or waiting for the people around her to move for her (it's faster to just make room; others will fill the gaps back in and go back to what they were doing the second she's done), and she often has to be reminded to say "please" or even "hello" and "goodbye."  The "borders" of an interaction are lost on her.  She tends to jump straight to the substance; a habit which is not helped by the fact that all of her closest friends understand that this is just how she is and don't take it personally, choosing to focus on what is said over what is left out.  Hell, a lot of her friends share this trait with her, and she feels comfortable around them knowing that they can have a good time without trying to always think one step ahead in a way that feels unnatural and confusing.

- Absolutely obsessed with music.  It's her favorite thing in the entire world, and she will completely zero in on studying, playing, listening to, and talking about it.  Their certainty and straightforwardness (and their well-earned, calm confidence in their expertise) can make them come off as elitist or self-important at times, particularly to people who are actually competitive music elitists and feel threatened by any attempt from someone to discuss music.  Violet is not competitive at all!  They just LOVE music a lot and talk about theory, music history, and categorization with passion and focus.  Their demeanor isn't cold, but it's not sunny and friendly, so when they're in the zone and talking to the wrong person, they might seem like they're trying to impress people over being genuinely excited.  In reality, they are SO excited to talk about and explore their passion, and while most people read them properly, they struggle to recognize when they're being misconstrued as gatekeep-y or stuck-up (or even just… when someone thinks they’re being annoying, unfortunately. Not that they care that much about what someone who’s that wrong about them thinks, anyway…)

- Listens to all kinds of music–there’s legitimately almost nothing they don’t like, but their FAVORITE genres are industrial metal, synth punk, nu metal, screamo, aggrotech, darkwave, and digital hardcore.  They go to as many shows as possible, and their walls are like shrines to their favorite bands, decked out with signed tour posters and pinned shirts.  Live music is their reason for breathing.

- Active and pretty fun!  They are casually social, but not bubbly and overly excitable.  They like parties and get-togethers and have a good sense of humor, even if they’re not the greatest at picking up on the nuances of socialization.

- Had extremely poor health as a child. An unfortunate combination of medical problems (including respiratory issues, some severe allergies, a history of now-treated seizures, and a weakened immune system) led to a lot of their childhood being spent in hospital/undergoing treatment.  Having so many close calls caused them to develop a deep appreciation for their body as the vessel through which they experience the world, and they treasure that vessel and treat it well.  They are a very vocal advocate for bodily autonomy, and anyone who disrespects that type of agency is immediately flagged in their mind as someone they don’t want to be around.

- Has asthma.  It’s now under control and easily managed with medication, but their childhood health scares led them to develop an intense phobia of suffocation, strangulation, or drowning.  They can manage to keep it together enough to do things like go swimming at the beach, but if a strong wave sends too much water up their nose or down their throat, they’ll be at risk of a pretty intense panic attack.

- Used to get very frustrated by socialization back in elementary and middle school, and would be prone to meltdowns and reactivity–she was very easily taunted into freakouts by bullies.  She’s calmed down a lot now; and is a lot better at waiting out her immediate physiological/emotional reactions to things, slowing down enough to think through them instead.  She’s still not a patient person and gets very irritated when people waste her time or try to bait a reaction out of her, but she’s much better at accepting that she has to wait out her own feelings and just choose to walk away sometimes.

- Has depression, but isn’t very aware of how much it affects them.  They think that the dreariness and oppressive, foggy, quiet, cold frustration that sinks over them sometimes is nothing more than a natural reaction to parts of the world being cruel–they think it’s a healthy amount of resentment and gloom to feel in response to a world rife with oppression and injustice.  To an extent they’re right, but they definitely are more numb and melancholy than is “normal” when they’re in the midst of a depressive episode.  Rather than sadness, their depression often feels like a numb, scratchy sense of anger, spite, demotivation, exhaustion, and disgust at all of the things in the world that upset them and that they feel are unfair.  When it gets bad, they lose the ability to get past the things that bother them (even if those things bother them for good reason) and become demoralized, irritable, and lethargic, shutting themselves in their room, listening to music, and staring at the ceiling or sleeping through the day.  Essentially, they’re struggling with chronic clinical depression, and sort of just think this is just part of being alive (or at least what being a leftist feels like for everyone).  They are mentally ill and were left pretty traumatized by some of their childhood experiences, and now they're dealing with the fallout from that without having pieced together that this isn't an unavoidable fact of life.  They don't talk about it much--it just looks to a lot of others like they go through bouts of being more withdrawn and moody.  They usually attribute it to burnout from touring or politics, if asked.

- Dude regularly gets diabolical reality-shattering, mind-bending, physically Agonizing nightmares.  She don't wanna talk about it though she chooses to ball out (or just gradually accumulate more Plague) instead.  Bro has like, mentally separated Real Violet from Dream Violet and just accepts that Dream Violet's job is to suffer infinitely and it's lowkey not Real Violet's problem.  Every single night has to end, no matter how Heinous it gets, and bro has just internalized that.  Sucks to be Dream Violet, but like... Skill issue.  Unfortunately, Violet (real/waking life Violet) does not really deal with #theunderlyingfactors and #thelingeringdread.  You win some, you lose some.  Blasts them off like Team Rocket.

- Loves both being outside and in urban environments; walking around downtown or in the woods at night is like going to Disneyland for him.  They really like observing things VERY, very closely; finding bricks, stones, fabrics, or tree trunks with interesting textures, and looking at them up close for a long time, touching them and studying them.  They can get very meditative, borderline mesmerized, taking the time to trace textures with their eyes and hands.  When in their hyena form, they’re not above using their teeth to explore things further, using their mouth and jaws to see how tough different rocks and branches are.  They’ll use all of their senses to explore the world around them and love every second of it.  It’s very rewarding to them.

- Loves body modifications!  They see self expression as an extension of respecting and enhancing one’s body–making their body and identity more in line with each other (and then reveling in that unity) is very important to them as someone who experiences dysphoria.  Some of their body modifications include their split tongue, nipple piercings, hip piercings, vertical labret, bridge, and dimple piercings.  They’ve also had top surgery; for them, this meant a massive breast reduction; almost a full mastectomy.  Their notched ear was actually unintentional, but they don’t mind it.  They’ve accepted the scar as part of them and would miss it if it somehow disappeared. 

- Likes metal detecting (they occasionally find something cool), playing and watching soccer, playing the guitar, bass, and piano, singing, horror movies and games (especially body horror), clothing customization and thrifting, collecting band merch and physical music, hiking, karaoke, and taking notes/collecting and compiling information on their passions.  They’ve done a lot of helping out with researching for and editing different wikis for their favorite films, games, and musical artists.

- When their band isn’t touring, they work at a record store!  They’re usually working in the stockroom checking in and labeling new shipments, but they work the floor, too.  They LOVE what they do, but they’ve fumbled a few dates by admitting that they kind of dropped out of college to pursue music full time…

- Wears a lot of customized clothes (DIY or die), leather and spikes (they’ll wear all black leather pants with one of their all black leather jackets in the brutal Florida heat…), boots, crop tops and tank tops, and skinny jeans.  They also go shirtless relatively often.

- They love being a werewolf.  They see both forms as “true,” equally as much a part of them as each other.  They spend more time in their humanoid form, mostly because they like being able to use their hands, but they view both of their “faces” as equally unique and recognizable, if only people look closely enough to learn to spot the distinct features in both forms.  They understand that their humanoid body is more accessible to the public, but that doesn’t change the way they see their other form.  They make full use of the full range of their body, and they revel in the freedom both forms give them.

- Their mane, ears, and coloration are a lot like that of a striped hyena, but their facial anatomy (in their hyena form) is MUCH, much more like a spotted hyena’s.  Their body shape is more wolflike than the average hyena too–they’re half wolf and half hyena, but one side pretty clearly presents more strongly than the other.  They do, however, have a pretty intense (and awesome) howl in both their humanoid and animal form, and they’ve got some very wolflike behaviors!  They also have a hyenalike “nervous laugh” that comes out sometimes when they’re stressed or restless, also in both forms.  They can suppress it sometimes, but it’s hard to hold back if they’re really scared or agitated.

- They have a mix of fur and hair on their body in their humanoid form.  Their limbs are covered in fur, and the mane that runs from their neck all the way down their spine is fur, but the hair on their head and abdomen is… well… hair.  They can make their mane lie flat or bristle up at will in both forms, but it does reflexively bristle when they’re startled or stressed, sometimes.

- Their jaws are incredibly powerful.  They have a crazy strong bite force for a humanoid when in that form, but in their animal form, they’re something else entirely, and almost never have to use their full bite force to get through something they want to break.  They eat bones regularly without breaking a sweat.  Ribs are one of their favorite foods!  :]

- Their hair length, volume, and spikiness can vary (they don't always style it so dramatically--it's usually down when they're not performing), but she always has shaggy emo bangs and a rat tail!

- I'm honestly not super picky with how their markings are drawn; as long as they have the base colors generally right and the dark, horizontal under-eye stripe, feel free to go nuts with the rest of their stripes! :3

- Datura is their older sister (and hero)!  They owe her Everything, it is because of her that the world did not snap up and Delete them years and years ago.

- In a band called MARROW with Datura, Tabitha, and Harriet (who are also their best friends)!  Violet is their lead vocalist.  They LOVE performing live, and their stage presence is INSANE.  Violet is energized by performing, totally entranced by it, and they love interacting with the crowd and their bandmates.  They can be a little crazy and provocative onstage, sometimes--crawling, strutting, prancing and leaping through the crowd, climbing up onto windowsills and swinging from rafters, using every square inch of space provided and making full use of their voice and body to put on a show, just barely closing in on the limits of what the venue can handle (but never going TOO far!), totally POSESSED by the music.  Touring and playing live shows is their calling; they LIVE for this.  Every MARROW show is a unique "you HAD to be there" experience and an unforgettable night for the crowd AND the band.

- Friends with Ronnie, Thresher, Isola, Evening, Attica, Senza, Oreo, Friday, and Florence!

- Best friends with Clue, Tabitha, Harriet, and Datura!
